Eco Fact Check

There are over 5,000 endangered and critically endangered creatures?

The answer is true.

Most of these animals are on the brink of distinction. With the global climate change comes added stress on these already stressed animals. So the need to get involved is dire.

For example in circles it is believed that infectious disease can be spread quicker because the host can stay active in warmer temperatures. Although there currently is no direct correlation between climate change and infectious diseases. There is though a direct correlation between infectious disease and warmer climates.

A good example of this would be the critically endangered lberian lynx with a population of 84 to 143 adults located in isolated parts of Spain and Portugal. The reason the lberian lynx is having a difficult time surviving is because the European rabbit population is contracting disease's and is dying off. Thus in turn effecting the lberian lynx's main food source. Without these rabbits the lynx have no prey to feed upon. 80 percent of the lberian lynx's diet comes from the European rabbit population. So two things need to happen either relocate the lberian lynx in hopes of it surviving in a less plagued area's or addressing ways to combat the European Rabbit's that are diseased. But this all takes donations, involvement, education and studies. So please get involved and help us protect our endangered and critically wildlife.
